Position Summary:

The responsibility of the Deputy Regional Director or Proyecto CULTIVAR: Avanzando los Derechos Laborales en Agricultura is to assist the Regional Director in project management; provide technical expertise in project planning and implementation; assist the Regional Director to develop and maintain relations with partners to meet project objectives; and handle administrative and supervisory responsibilities as specified by the Regional Director.  The Deputy Regional Director will also work closely with CULTIVAR Partner Organizations in Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, responsible for implementing project activities at the country level.

Major Responsibilities:

" Work with the Regional Director and project partners to ensure that the deliverables produced are completed with the highest level of quality, and on time according to the CULTIVAR Work Plan and timeline.
" Provide input in planning and organizing the annual project Work Plan, preparing the project budget, and the updating the regional work strategy and action plan.
" Coordinate with local partners to update country level Work Plans consistent with the project's Strategic Framework.
" Work with the Regional Director and project partners to facilitate the implementation of project activities according to the Work Plan
" Communicate and coordinate with local partner staff on administrative and project implementation issues, Work Plans, and budgets.
" Work with the Regional Director and local partners to track, monitor and report the project's progress on indicators as defined by the CULTIVAR performance monitoring plan
" Contribute to the development of project workshops and seminars, and participate in the delivery of specific training modules.
" Work with the Regional Director to prepare TORs and supervise short term technical assistance/consultants providing technical support to the Ministry of Labor and to local level institutions.
" Work with the Regional Director to identify potential opportunities for collaboration and synergies with local government and NGO partners.
" Coordinate with other donor agencies and project teams to identify opportunities for synergies and to avoid duplication of efforts.
" Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual progress reports to DOL.
" Organize the development of informational material, project success stories, inputs to the project website, and reports to SAI and DAI.
" Represent the project at events, such as conferences and meetings related to project objectives. 
" Carry out other tasks as designated by Regional Director.
" Travel within Central America and the Dominican Republic as needed.

Qualifications:  

" Education: Advanced University Degree
" Experience: Developing country program experience required, preferably in Central America and on development or labor issues. The Deputy Regional Director should have strong leadership skills, be gender sensitive, and possess a proven track record of working successfully in a variety of cultural contexts. 
" Strong knowledge of regional development and labor issues
" Strong written and spoken communication skills
" Experience with transferring skills to rural poor communities
" Experience working on donor funded projects.
" Partnership and consensus building experience including the design and delivery of collaborative projects and results
" Ability to tactfully facilitate sensitive situations and to work successfully with people at all levels of management, and of different nationalities and cultures
" Computer literacy and ability to use standard software (MS Word, Excel, database, Power Point) required
" Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
" ability to handle multiple tasks, and work as a team member

Fluency in Spanish & English a MUST.  Full time position based in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
