Description
Duties:
As Deputy Director, the successful candidate shares
responsibility with the Executive Director for providing the vision and
leadership for the organization as a whole, and for developing new
opportunities to accomplish the organizations mission.
The Deputy
Director serves in an executive capacity (including Acting Executive
Director -- as required), making appearances on CRS behalf,
representing CRS on advisory committees, and responding to issues of
concern from the CRS constituency.
A key responsibility of the Deputy
Director is to work with the Development Director to identify and solicit
funds for CRS programs and activities.
As Manager of Domestic Programs, the CRS Deputy Director has
financial, strategic, and personnel supervision responsibilities for the
CRS domestic program portfolio. Today, these programs include the
Green-e programs (in both restructured and traditional utility markets);
the Public Renewable Partnership program with municipal utilities
(including a large R&D contract responsibility); and several new
programs currently under development. The Deputy Director has the
responsibility for working with the Domestic Program Directors, the
Communications Director and the Project Development Director in
strategic program direction, interacting with funders, as well as setting
budgets, financial and program performance priorities. In addition,
depending upon the candidates background and interests, a portion of
the Deputy Directors time will be spent in substantive work on a
program or project of his/her choosing.
Qualifications:
The Center for Resource Solutions is seeking a
qualified candidate to fill the senior management position of Deputy
Director and Manager of Domestic Programs. We are looking for an
experienced professional with vision and enthusiasm for growing and
managing a different type of non-profit organization that includes a
highly qualified and closely-knit professional staff.
Candidates should
have a record of superior achievement and a professional reputation
that has established them as a leader in clean energy.
A successful
candidate will have ten years or more of professional experience in a
sustainable resource development field with preference for a
background in a clean energy area renewable energy, energy
efficiency, or restructuring of the electricity sector with a focus on public
interest benefits.
Consideration will also be given to outstanding
candidates from closely related resource areas to the extent that they
are relevant to the CRS Mission, as well as to present and future
program development.
Candidates should have demonstrated
expertise in raising funds, working with foundations, developing and
overseeing budgets and the financial tasks associated with managing
a two to three million-dollar non-profit organization.
A candidate should have excellent writing and networking skills
including the ability to expand and make new strategic connections for
the CRS national network.
Candidates must have management
experience and the personality to successfully interact with and
oversee the activities of twelve office professionals. In the Deputys
supervisory capacity, s/he should be able to balance management skills
and support functions with the ability to elicit superior performance and
unique ideas from reporting staff members.
