Description

Duties:


The DC Baywatch Coordinator combines administrative and teaching
responsibilities for a six-part watershed education program for 600
District of Columbia public school students and their teachers. Duties
include:

  • Market and recruit classes for the program
  • Teach in-school, after-school, family and camp programs during fall
    and summer(40% of time)
  • Develop and teach two teacher workshops
  • Coordinate field trip visits with partner orgs(Chesapeake Bay
    Foundation, Smithsonian Envir. Research Center and National Park
    Service)
  • Manage and schedule several teaching interns
  • Oversee revisions and updates to lesson plans and contact
    information in teacher curriculum, with Curator's assistance


Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years teaching experience with children 3-11
  • Knowledge and interest in environmental sciences, with emphasis on
    water issues
  • High energy level
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as scheduled
  • Moderate lifting, low impact outdoor exercise (hiking, climbing, biking,
    etc)
  • Transportation
