Description
Duties:
The DC Baywatch Coordinator combines administrative and teaching
responsibilities for a six-part watershed education program for 600
District of Columbia public school students and their teachers. Duties
include:
- Market and recruit classes for the program
- Teach in-school, after-school, family and camp programs during fall
and summer(40% of time) - Develop and teach two teacher workshops
- Coordinate field trip visits with partner orgs(Chesapeake Bay
Foundation, Smithsonian Envir. Research Center and National Park
Service) - Manage and schedule several teaching interns
- Oversee revisions and updates to lesson plans and contact
information in teacher curriculum, with Curator's assistance
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years teaching experience with children 3-11
- Knowledge and interest in environmental sciences, with emphasis on
water issues - High energy level
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as scheduled
- Moderate lifting, low impact outdoor exercise (hiking, climbing, biking,
etc) - Transportation
