Description

Stony Brook Natural History Day Camp provides hands on nature exploration and activities for children ages 5 -13 at this 241 acre wildlife sanctuary.

Duties:

  • Day camp instructors teach natural history and facilitate campers observations and discovery of the natural world.
  • Topics include food chains, geology, wildlife monitoring, as well as habitat explorations.
  • Day Camp Instructors share in all camp activities including the supervision of campers health and safety, communication with camp staff and parents regularly, and supervision of high-school aged volunteers.
  • Some programs involve occasional evening and overnight supervision.
  • Training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Completion of first year of college, preferably with a major in biology, environmental studies, education, or related field.
  • Natural history knowledge and previous camp experience a plus.
  • A minimum of Community 1st Aid and Safety certification required.
  • Must be available June 14 August 27, 2004.

Terms:

Salary range $8.00 - $10.00 per hour.
