Description
Student Conservation Association (SCA) offers qualified applicants the chance to lead volunteer crews in more than 100 spectacular national parks, forests, refuges, and urban sites across the U.S. Crew Leaders work with crews of 6, 8 or 10 high school students, in backcountry, frontcountry, or urban community sites. Typical programs are 30 days in length.
Qualifications:
* Be at least 21 years old.
*Successful completion of motor vehicle and criminal background check
*Have U.S. citizenship; possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
* Be in good physical condition. Specific duties of an SCA Crew Leader include performing manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more and hike 5 or more miles.
* Must possess current required first aid certification & CPR by the start date of the orientation training. Wilderness First Aid or equivalent certification is the minimum requirement for National Crew Leaders; Community First Aid is minimum for Commuting Crew Leaders
* Previous experience working with youth (ages 14-18)
* Experience with outdoor living skills. Can include: hiking, safety awareness, LNT, camping, cooking, basic map/compass.
* Experience with conservation work skills or related, ie. carpentry, construction, landscaping, gardening, masonry.
