Corporate Responsibility Specialist/Manager

Deckers Outdoor Corporation, with corporate offices in Goleta, CA, remains close to its origins. It is there, as a University of California, Santa Barbara student, that founder Doug Otto began producing sandals in 1973. Since then, Deckers has grown into a leading global company with locations on three continents and seven footwear brands - Ahnu®, Mozo®, Sanuk®, Simple®, Teva®, Tsubo®, and UGG® Australia.

Responsibilities:

Principal Accountabilities & Functions:

• Communications Plan: Develop CR communications plan for various audiences incorporating appropriate communication tools and pieces, etc.
• CR Report: Manage development of Deckers CR Report including layout, content and creative design aligning with GRI reporting standard.
• Creative Agency: Work with creative design agency & Deckers Corp Comms. to translate CR content into compelling report layout and design.
• Continuous Improvement: Work with stakeholder to track and measure report

Community Affairs:

Employee Programs:

• Develop Global CR /"Deckers Goods" outreach and educational program for employees and community stakeholders.
• Coordinate and drive employee "Deckers Goods" events and activities.

Donations:

• Work with executive office and regional stakeholders to support and manage global philanthropic efforts. As needed, help with management of grant application, vetting, reporting and employee matching program.

Environmental Sustainability:

• Team Support: Work with CR team to provide support as needed for various environmental programs including: brands product environmental design, environmental footprint assessment and material sourcing.

Human Rights:

• Team Support: Work with CR & Ethical Supply Chain team to support Deckers efforts to monitor and improve social and environmental conditions in factories.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with creative design agencies on layout and content for CR Report
• Experience in motivating and working with employees on community engagement
• Experience briefing management teams and working with cross functional teams
• 1 -3 years related Sustainability/Corporate Responsibility business experience
• Experience in development of or working with philanthropic foundations preferred
• Experience in international business cultures especially in developing countries preferred
• Experience working in product development environment preferred
• Experience in consumer products or related industry preferred
• Experience with CR ethics, compliance, legal issues preferred
• Masters degree in environmental science or MBA in sustainability preferred
