Position Description:
The Coordinator - Sustainable Practices, under the general direction of the Coordinator for Continuing and Contract Education supports the development, implementation, and management of the daily operations of the College's Continuing and Contract Education program that includes Lifelong Learning and Computer/Information Technology.
The Coordinator - Sustainable Programs is responsible for recommending new instructors, and supporting instructors and students with issues regarding the continuing education program. The Coordinator - Sustainable Programs monitors and maintains information on the program budget.
Specific Responsibilities
- Research sustainable practice education programs that are already in place in other colleges in the state and surrounding areas.
- Develop a list of courses and course descriptions for sustainable practices courses, workshops & seminars.
- Create a quarterly calendar of when courses should be offered.
- Research the best ways to market the Sustainable Practices program
- Research local businesses to determine what sustainable Practices jobs will be needed in this service delivery area.
- Recruit 60% of instructors needed for Fall 2007 with appropriate expertise to teach the courses as determined.
- Checking and responding to telephone messages regarding the Sustainable Practices courses.
- Create marketing fliers or other simple marketing materials to market the Sustainable Practices curriculum.
- Interact with other areas of the college as it relates to the Sustainable Practices courses.
- Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- Two years of experience in the field of sustainable practices
- Demonstrates Knowledge of MS Outlook. Utilizes email program functions such as calendars and meeting requests, effectively composes, sends, and responds to electronic mail.
- Demonstrates technical knowledge and skill in utilizing databases, such as Microsoft Access to update and/or maintain records, including accurately entering and retrieving data
- Familiar and comfortable working with standard office equipment such as copy machines, telephones, and fax machines
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge and skill in using MS Word to create documents using columns and tables, set multiple margins and tabs within the same document, and use functions such as mail merge to create form letters
- Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge and skill in using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets, import data from other sources, and create tables and graphs from spreadsheet data, etc.
- Quantitative Skills
- Well mannered when dealing with students, instructors and coworkers both face to face and via telephone.
- Proficiency with the HP System.

Terms of Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, exempt position beginning in March 2007 through June 30, 2007. The work schedule will vary according to the department's and college's needs and will include evening and/or occasional Saturday hours. The work schedule will be approximately 20-25 hours/week. The salary is $22.00/hour. The college offers an excellent benefit package.
