The HGCI vision is to establish an integrated commitment throughout Harvard by becoming a "learning organization" and a living laboratory in the pursuit of environmental sustainability. The approach is to engage and involve the Harvard community of faculty, students and administrators, working within Harvard's decentralized structure to enable local management involvement, develop understanding of sustainability, develop networks within and between faculties, and enable the community to Institutionalize sustainable practices.

Duties And Responsibilities
* Support the collection, analysis and dissemination of information relating to Longwood campus environmental impact.

*Implementing Campus Energy Reduction awareness campaigns and competitions such as Go Cold Turkey and A Vision of Sustainability;

* Organizing topical panel discussions and brown bag speaking events;

* Developing forums to engage core audiences such as focus groups;

* Developing Longwood CERP educational materials for student orientation;

* Ensuring the continual development of web-based representation and press releases/newsletter articles to cultivate continual interest in Longwood environmental efforts;

* Developing promotional and educational materials. Fund raise for future program development, and consult on green building efforts using the USGBC LEED rating system as a guide.

UOS requires pre employment drug, reference and background screening. This is a 12 month position.

Required Education, Experience and Skills
BA/BS required and a minimum of 1 year of experience in environmental management with strong communications and marketing experience preferred, OR Masters in Environmental Sciences or professional degree (Architecture, Urban Planning, etc)

Background in renewable energy and green buildings preferred; Knowledge of universities helpful; Knowledge of green building, building technology and demand-side management helpful, LEED accreditation preferred; Experience in implementing environmental education and awareness programs preferred; Must be creative and entrepreneurial team leader with a high level of energy and initiative; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required; Proven organizational skills; Ability to work with shifting priorities and schedules. Ability to work as a team player and independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and ability to learn software as needed.
