Position Overview
Davey Resource Group, a Division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, has opportunities in the field of Consulting Forestry, as a Consulting Utility Forester. Davey is a leader in the tree care, utility line clearing and forestry consulting industries, throughout the US and Canada.
Specific task training will be provided. Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority. Access to industry related training materials and Davey Extension Courses will be provided, as well as a company vehicle for work and commuting purposes & cell phone.
Responsibilities
Job Duties:
- Working with major gas utility system forestry needs, inspecting and assessing vegetation in the right-of-ways and for construction projects;
- Inspect ROW for utility for compliance standards and construction work plans;
- Identify tree and brush control work and protection zone recommendations, provide restoration and replanting recommendations;
- Document work using hand-held computer;
- Assessment of terrain, habitat, environmental conditions;
- Creation of IVM projects;
- Arborist report writing;
- Management of IVM projects; and
- Coordinating with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- ISA Certified Arborist, Positive Attitude, Team-player; Excellent communication skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
- Proficient in GIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Pro, Adobe Acrobat, Cloud based drives;
- Arborist report writing skills; and
- Flexible work schedule & willingness to travel and interest in working overtime hours.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline;
- ISA Utility Specialist;
- Qualified Applicators License (QAL), Pest Control Advisor (PCA), Registered Professional Forester (RPF), ISA TRACE or TRAQ certified;
- Utility Right-of-Way Vegetation experience preferred;
- Ability to identify local tree species;
- Landscape design, restoration, estimating, and maintenance. Excellent communication skills;
- Critical attention to detail;
- Organizational skills;
- Working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation and sharing;
- Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather;
- Ability to read and follow maps;
- Ability to work independently;
- Availability and desire to travel;
- Ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle;
- Clean DMV driving record; and
- Pre-employment Drug Screen & E-Verify Social Security number verification required.
Compensation: Pay Rates based on qualifications and experience. DRG offers competitive wages, excellent benefits and F/T positions include option to buy Company stock after 1 year.
