Description

The Friends of the Desert Mountains is a non-profit conservation organization based in Palm Desert, California. Since 1993 the Friends has helped conserve more than 45,000 acres in the Coachella Valley and surrounding mountains to protect wildlife habitat, as well as cultural, scenic, and recreation resources.

Friends works closely with various state and federal agencies; the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission, a local joint powers authority established to implement the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan; and foundations and other non-profits to obtain grants for land acquisition or to facilitate acquisition by a partner.

Position Overview: 

Friends seeks to hire a Conservation Lands Manager to implement its land acquisition and land management programs. A full description of the job and application information is available at the Friends' website.

Qualifications: 

Experience with real estate transactions would be helpful but not required; on the job training is available. A passion for conservation is a requirement, along with eagerness and ability to learn, and good written and verbal communication skills.
