Description

The Louisiana Bucket Brigade is a 501(c)(3) environmental health and justice organization working with communities that neighbor the state's oil refineries and chemical plants. Our mission is to support communities' use of grassroots action to create informed, sustainable neighborhoods free from industrial pollution.

Position Overview:

We are currently hiring Full and part time Community Organizers to speak directly and to raise public awareness of accidents at the 17 oil refineries in the state of Louisiana and get them involved in the work that we do.

Candidates should have strong verbal communication skills and a passion for environmentalism and public health issues. Candidates will need to be open to people of other beliefs, different value systems and education levels, and be confident in talking with people. Our Community Organizers will be responsible for running key aspects of the campaign including canvassing to increase public awareness, recruit volunteers, as well as grassroots fund-raising.

Qualifications:

Experience in grassroots activism is great, but by no means required. Our goal is to find new activists and train them in this fight.

Skill Level: The ability to speak confidently and directly with the general public.

Compensation: Our organizers make a range based on performance, 300-500 per week.
