Position Overview:
The Apollo Alliance seeks an entrepreneurial, energetic and experienced public relations professional to serve as its national Communications Director (CD). This is the ideal position for a communications professional with 3-5 years of experience who enjoys the excitement and challenge of working for a strategically aggressive organization whose success depends directly on the quality of its people.

Responsibilities:
The CD will promote Apollo initiatives to persuade key political leaders, opinion leaders, and the public to embrace Apollo's clean energy, good jobs agenda. In addition to securing press coverage, the CD will plan and execute press strategies to support specific Apollo initiatives in coordination with Apollo's program, research and field staff. The CD will schedule and prepare briefings for media events and interviews that feature Apollo's Chairman of the Board (and Board Members), and Executive Director. The CD reports to the Executive Director and supervises website design and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- A passion for Apollo's issues and an ability to articulate and translate that passion into a disciplined, effective communications strategy;
- Demonstrated news judgment, technological savvy and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external players;
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and implement effective media strategies in major media markets;
- Exceptional writing, editing and oral communications skills;
- Working knowledge of leading-edge communications and web software;
- Experience staffing and briefing organizational spokespeople;
- Experience coordinating press and other organizational events to promote the organization's message and gain targeted press coverage; and
- BA or equivalent, and 3-5 years of communications experience, as described above.
