Description
The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 5,000 corporate and organizational members that is dedicated to promoting environmentally-responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work is currently seeking a new staff member to join its dedicated and hard-working Communication Services team to coordinate activities that support the department's efforts.
The Communication Services Coordinator will function primarily in a project manager capacity, performing duties that may include coordinating all aspects of materials development and presentations, direct mailings, etc.; maintaining databases; and assisting in research of target markets and clients.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Plans, conducts and coordinates a range of Communications Services support activities
- Develops/maintains Communications Services information systems
- Serves as project manager for program directors and/or senior staff, coordinating specific program initiatives, e.g., development/production of brochures, presentations, publications, direct mail pieces, etc.
- Works effectively with outside resources (graphic designers, printers and other service providers) to accomplish projects
- Assists in research of target markets, publications, etc.
- Helps develop strategy on project-specific Communications Services activities as well as program marketing strategy
- Writes general marketing correspondence and, depending on ability, copy for collateral materials, etc.
- Oversees/coordinates special events
- Assists in/coordinates implementation of corporate identity, direct mail programs, electronic/digital asset acquisition and advertising
- Assists with/coordinates trade shows and special events
- Other related tasks as assigned
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Business (Marketing) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator preferred.
- General understanding of relational databases (e.g., Access).
- Ability to understand principles of layout and apply to marketing materials.
- Knowledge of the print/publication process from design through delivery.
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
- Good organization, writing and communication skills.
- Commitment to USGBC Mission.
Salary low to mid $30K's along with excellent benefits package.
