~ The Klamath-Siskiyou Wildands Center (KS Wild) is a non-profit conservation advocacy organization that protects the forests, waters, and wildlife of the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion. ~
Formed in 1997, KS Wild uses environmental law, science, collaboration, education and grassroots organizing to defend healthy ecosystems and help build sustainable communities throughout northwest California and southwest Oregon.
KS Wild fights for protection and restoration of the incomparable ecological riches found witin the bioregion. We monitor public lands in the Rogue River/Siskiyou, Klamath, Six Rivers and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, and the Medford and Coos Bay Districts of the Bureau of Land Management.

Position Overview
We're currently hiring a full-time Communications Director to join our professional staff at our headquarters in Ashland, OR.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will set and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations and media to consistently articulate KS Wild's mission.
The Director of Communications will ensure that KS Wild is viewed as the primary source of information within its diverse support network. This position also works closely with colleagues as the communications partner on a variety of conservation initiatives across the region.
Most work is performed from our office in Ashland, OR, but the position will also require some traveling, evening, and weekend work (when appropriate).
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan and calendar across the organization's programs in collaboration with the KS Wild team and our constituents
- Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic media including the KS Wild News, e-newsletter, brochures, and KS Wild's websites
- Lead the generation of online content and social media that leads to measurable action
- Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum
- Coordinate webpage maintenance-ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, events) is posted regularly
- Track and measure the level of engagement with our members and supporters over time including outreach database management
- Manage all media contacts and coordinate with staff on press statements and releases
- Coordinate design, production, and dissemination of KS Wild materials including T-shirts, stickers, buttons, etc.
Qualifications
- KS Wild is seeking an accomplished communications professional who has at least 5 years of experience, ideally in a leadership role within a non-profit organization and covering areas such as website content, newsletters, social media, and donor communications
- The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical
Additional qualifications include:
- Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
- Excellent writing editing and verbal communication skills
- A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
- Experience with social media as a tool to amplify outreach strategies
- High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
- Commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
- Ability to work independently to create and implement new initiatives
- Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to establish and meet deadlines
- Experience with Salsa, Donor Perfect, or comparable membership databases a plus
