Position Overview:
The Commercial Project Manager is fully responsible for the oversight and management of the project cycle for a Commercial PV project within a given region or project site. Responsibilities include:
- interfacing with the customer, local government authorities, utility companies, engineers, and contractors to plan, schedule, and coordinate all construction work, inspections and approvals, administrative actions, and professional services;
- provide detailed schedules and budgets to meet contract requirements;
- oversight of the design process through plan-check, permitting, and approvals when necessary;
- defining elements of work and soliciting bids for subcontracted work as required;
- providing direction and coordination of all field activities related to the physical construction of the PV array by GeoPeak Energy installation teams and/or any specialty subcontractors;
- managing the project schedule throughout the project lifecycle;
- and securing any unique materials and/or equipment required to complete the project.
He or she reports to the Chief Operations Officer (COO).
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the project cycle for commercial PV Projects.
- Actively participate in design, planning, procurement, permitting, and securing all approvals.
- Oversee and coordinate all field teams and the installation process.
- Define elements of work and develop scope of work for subcontracts and professional services.
- Manage bid process for contracted work and services.
- Develop and manage project budgets.
- Develop and manage project schedule using MS Project.
- Arrange, schedule and lead key project meetings.
Qualifications:
- Education: BS/BA in engineering, architecture, or construction related discipline.
- 5-7 years of construction related experience; 3-5 of that in PV Solar industry experience.
- Excellent customer relations, communications, and motivational skills.
- Knowledge of commercial construction, project management process, and sequence of work.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, subcontracts, and the bid process.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial PV installations, electrical systems, and wiring configurations.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and a diverse project team of professionals.
- Experience leading and managing matrixed project teams.
- Certifications: NABCEP, PE, or Certified Project Manager certification a plus but not required.
