The mission of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is to maximize energy efficiency while promoting economic development, reducing reliance on foreign energy supplies, and improving the environment.

Position Overview:

Join the Maryland Energy Administration as we transform energy in the State of Maryland. With the newly created Strategic Energy Investment Fund, and the new Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard, you will have an unprecedented opportunity to work on the cutting edge of implementing Maryland's energy policy. We are looking for the best and the brightest to join the team that is quickly making Maryland one of the nation's leaders in Clean Energy.

Responsibilities:

The Clean Energy Program Manager will have the opportunity to expand responsibilities and potentially manage several programs all or which are designed to increase the generation of renewable energy and use of alternative fuels. The program manager, depending on experience and qualifications, will likely manage initially the Wind Energy Program which includes the following tasks:

  • Implement and manage all reporting aspects of an NREL funded Wind Powering America program with focus on particular sectors in specific geographical regions within the State.
  • Provide oversight Maryland's Windswept program and any related programs
  • Remain current of practices and policies of other states as they increase the on-shore and off-shore wind capacity.
  • Participate in discussions and suggest possible changes in legislative and policy options to increase the deployment of wind energy capacity
  • Maintain dialogue with stakeholders throughout the state, in the region and at the Federal level.

Qualifications:

Should have experience or educational background in energy and related issue areas. Candidates preferably will have experience managing government programs. Candidates must be organized, write well, be able to meet deadlines, and work well with both internal staff and external parties. The person in this position is expected to keep track of metrics and statistics that demonstrate the importance of the activity being performed.

Candidates will ideally have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as environmental policy. Experience working for a related government agency on the state or federal level, or with a consulting firm is ideal.

This is preferably a mid-level position, but exceptionally qualified entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
