Background:
Our regional conservation coalition seeks a full-time Director for its Clean Energy
Campaign. The campaign's mission is to reduce the adverse environmental
impacts of new, fossil fuel-fired power plants in the Interior West, and to ensure
that the region's electricity needs are met in an environmentally and economically
sound manner.
Duties:
Duties will include: managing all aspects of the campaign, setting priorities,
working closely with local advocates and volunteers, coordinating legal and
technical research and strategy, and the hiring and supervision of an assistant to
the campaign. Occasional travel required. The Director will report to and work
with the campaign's Steering Committee.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5-10 years working on energy and/or environmental issues, preferably
in the Western US; track record of successful grassroots organizing and/or
advocacy, along with exceptional organizing and leadership skills; ability to build
relationships with a broad range of coalition partners in several states; J.D.
preferred, including an excellent knowledge of the range of legal and policy issues
surrounding the environmental and economic aspects of electricity production.
Demonstrated commitment to environmental protection a must.
Compensation:
Competitive salary plus benefits. Ideally, the position will be based in Boulder,
Colorado, at the offices of the Land and Water Fund of the Rockies.
