The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is a non-profit national environmental organization with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. We have offices in New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles. Our staff of over 250 includes attorneys, scientists, policy analysts and educators working to protect the environment and public health through advocacy and education.
Position Summary:
NRDC seeks to hire an attorney for the Clean Air Program in its Washington, D.C. office. The attorney will be responsible for both litigation and advocacy to address air pollution at the federal, state and local level. NRDC represents both its own members and a range of outside clients, including neighborhood associations, regional grassroots organizations, and environmental and public health groups. Specific responsibilities will include federal and state litigation, policy analysis, media outreach, legislative work, regulatory comments, coalition building and/or developing campaigns.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
* J.D. required with at least five years of legal experience, with a strong preference for Clean Air Act litigation, legislative and regulatory experience
* Exceptional writing and analytical skills
* Federal court clerkship and/or government attorney experience are a plus
* Commitment to nonprofit lawyering
