Position Overview:
The Chief Sustainability Officer will work with students, faculty, and staff in creating a free flowing environment that enables and encourages campus sustainability initiatives and fosters cultural transformation.
Principal duties include: assisting campus constituents in developing sustainability-related projects; navigating organizational processes and policies to foster an enabling environment for sustainability-related innovation, serving as the campus liaison to organizations such as AASHE, and ACUPCC, coordinating the College STARS program and development of the Climate Action Plan. The incumbent will also serve as ex-officio on the Alfred State College Green Team.
This position reports directly to the College President and will serve on the President's Council.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements for the position include having a strong commitment to enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions for promoting sustainability through education, outreach and internal organizational change; collaborative planning and project management experience as well as excellent communication skills.
A Master's degree in any discipline is required. Experience with higher education sustainability initiatives is desirable.
