Waterfield Farms International (WFI) supplies the U.S. and European seafood markets with organic, sustainably grown aquaculture, produce, and value-added products. We transition conventional aquaculture producers around the world to organic production that benefits the environment, the farms working with us on a fair-trade basis, the communities surrounding these farms and the consumer.
Position: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Description:The COO oversees all operational aspects of farms and their production - from farm to delivery of finished goods. The COO performs Operational Assessments of all prospective farms and supports farms' production- including quality assurance, organic certification, production scheduling and logistics.
Duties:Travel internationally to research and analyze prospective farms. Orchestrate a medium-sized team that develops and manages the members of a cooperative and advises farms on logistical, environmental, and human resource issues. Work closely with the executive team to determine the fiscal and productive viability of prospective farms. Design and implement systems that transition new farms to and enforce WFI's organic, environmental, and social equity standards. Work closely with the sales and marketing team to introduce and expand new products effectively, and oversee product movement from farm to processor to warehouse or store.
Qualifications:Minimum of 4 years experience in operations & resource management. Experience interfacing on executive level. Advanced computer literacy, including project-based programs and advanced networking skills (such as remote accessing the WFI database from a hotel in Sri Lanka). Experience in farm production & international shipping, importing/fair trade. Experience in wastewater treatment overseas helpful. Masters degree in business management and background in biology or environmental science a plus.
