~ Home Performance Coalition is a new organization resulting from the merger of Affordable Comfort, Inc., and the National Home Performance Council, two exemplary leaders in the development and growth of the home performance and weatherization industries. ~
The purposes of the merger were to consolidate and coordinate efforts on behalf of the home performance/weatherization industry in the U.S. and improve and increase the quality and reliability of information used to advance the home performance and weatherization fields.
The mission of Home Performance Coalition (HPC) is to encourage implementation of comprehensive improvements in new and existing homes for increased home energy performance while ensuring the sustainability and health of homes. The HPC will achieve this through a broad range of activities, including conferences; contractor support and training; policy formulation and advocacy; research; publications; promoting standards; governmental affairs and public education and information. The HPC will facilitate coordination among federal governmental agencies, utilities, state energy offices, contractors and other relevant stakeholders to achieve this mission. The HPC will carry out these activities through a dedicated staff and the active participation of its stakeholders.
Home Performance Coalition has an affiliate relationship and coordinates efforts with Efficiency First (EF) through a memorandum of understanding. Efficiency First is a national nonprofit trade association that unites the Home Performance workforce, building product manufacturers and related businesses and organizations.
Position Overview
Home Performance Coalition invites applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a full time regular position.
The role of the CEO is to design, develop and implement strategies for HPC in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner so that HPC is known as the pre-eminent organization in the home performance/weatherization space and so that the demand for home performance services grows nationally.
The location for this job is preferably in the Washington, D.C. area and relocation assistance can be negotiated. The position requires significant travel, primarily to our Pittsburgh PA location. The position is currently open and start date will depend on candidate transition.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the board of directors, the CEO will provide leadership to the organization (Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh PA locations) and manage its day-to-day affairs including:
- Developing and executing business plans, in collaboration with the board, for the future of the organization.
- Monitoring national trends in energy efficiency and conservation, climate change and sustainability.
- Supervising and developing staff.
- Supporting board committee needs.
- Developing and achieving strategic and business plan goals and objectives.
Key Priorities:
- Working with board/consultants/staff to determine strategic clarity and alignment of mission and resources.
- Assessing staff/consultant structure and determine staffing needs and plans.
- Managing existing business lines.
- Developing and implementing a strategic plan with stakeholder input.
- Developing and implementing short and long term business and marketing plans for the organization.
- Supporting self-assessment of the board structure; includes developing board job descriptions and board director profiles.
- Overseeing the relationship between HPC and EF to ensure effective implementation of the MOU.
- Managing the branding strategy process.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- A minimum of 7 years of experience with progressive responsibilities in management.
- Experience involving business activities related to project management, process improvement, process development, and team leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work within established budgets and deliver promised results.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient and self-motivated.
- Ability to appropriately manage multiple priorities.
- Effective staff management capabilities across multiple locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's in Business Administration from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
- Certified Association Executive
- 10+ years of organization management experience.
- Experience in the energy efficiency industry.
Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
