The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 18,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an organized and detail oriented professional with excellent people skills to provide ongoing, multidimensional support for its sponsorship and exhibition programs.

Position Overview:

The Chapter Resources Coordinator focuses on supporting the development and deployment of the tools and resources that chapters require to grow and succeed. This position works with Director of Chapter Resources & Administration to develop and implement a wide variety of tools and resources that will maximize the effectiveness of the chapters and their leadership, with a goal of making the chapters self-sufficient entities.

The nature of the position requires a Web-savvy individual who excels in both written and oral communications, works well in a team/collaborative environment, and is highly detail-oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Project coordination related to development of new tools and resources as well as the updating of existing ones. Resources cover a broad range of chapter functions including fundraising/development, advocacy, programming, communications (templates, presentations, etc.), PR, policies/talking points, best practices, strategic planning, LEED products, etc.
  • Management of Chapter Leader Extranet and its content; includes regular updating of resources such as LEED statistics, PowerPoint presentations, templates, etc., as necessary.
  • Coordination of chapter leader development training including chapter webcasts and web-based training courses. Includes assisting Director with program/schedule development, securing in-house and external experts, and webcast logistics (on-line management, posting, hosting, etc.)
  • Assist in coordinate with other departments (e.g., Advocacy, Communications, Market Development, etc.) to track and manage chapter-based/ chapter-focused trainings
  • Updating and maintaining chapter-related content on the usgbc.org and other USGBC Web sites as appropriate
  • Writing, editing, layout and deployment of regular chapter e-publications, including Hot Topics and the Chapter News
  • Assisting in research and evaluation of tools, resources, best practices, etc., both within USGBC among other nonprofits
  • Assist in analysis/evaluation of chapter activities, specifically as it relates to the development of tools and resources that facilitate chapters' ability to effectively carry out USGBC goals and objectives at the state/local levels.
  • Provide writing and content development support in the development of clear, user-friendly chapter organizational and administrative tools and documents including, but not limited to, chapter guidelines, job descriptions for various chapter leadership positions and staff, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management or related area
  • Minimum 2 years' related experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications
  • Experience in copy editing and proof reading for Web and other media
  • Proficient in Web-based applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint, Lyris, and Web content management systems
  • Proficient in a variety of applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, MSWord, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)
  • Proven success in project coordination
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of nonprofit management/development helpful
  • Understanding of chapter/component relations in an education/advocacy context helpful
  • Energetic and creative self-starter
  • Works well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Commitment to USGBC's mission and goals
