The Surfrider Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of our world's oceans, waves and beaches. The San Diego Chapter is seeking a highly motivated person for the position of Chapter Administrator. We are looking to recruit a team member to work in a high volume, self-motivated, deadline dependent environment. The main goal for this position is to increase outreach, education and fundraising activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage administrative infrastructure and day-to-day operations of office.
- Coordinate and implement all fundraising activities.
- Recruit, manage and over see volunteers and interns.
- Oversight, maintenance and coordination of Chapter programs and projects; including but not limited to Outreach, Informational booth staffing, Blue Water Task Force, Respect The Beach, and Beach Cleanups.
- Maintain and expand communication with Surfrider members via email database and website.
- Responsible for ensuring the Chapter is in compliance with the by-laws, policies and procedures set by the Nation Office of the Surfrider Foundation.
- Work with Treasurer and Executive Committee to create and manage annual budget.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist with local campaign planning and implementation
- Conduct media interviews
- Maintain and build environmental coalitions
- Grant Writing
- Covering select task force and City Council meetings and preparing and distributing summary reports to appropriate committee members
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree preferred
- Basic knowledge or background of coastal environmental issues
- Non profit experience helpful
- Administrative experience necessary
- Fundraising experience
- Public speaking abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexible schedule, available on most weekends
- Self motivated
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners to increase the outreach of the Surfrider Foundation
- Ability to travel within the County on a regular basis
- Passion for environmental and water quality issues
Compensation:
This is a full-time position based in San Diego County, California.
Compensation: $25,000 to $32,000 commensurate with experience (benefits included).
