WRI is a leading non-profit institute providing analysis, tools and environmental solutions. The Capital Markets Research team works in partnership with global financial institutions to provide leading environmental and finance research and analysis. Our work builds capacity and tools within the financial industry to assess and integrate environmental risk and opportunities into financial valuation and investment strategy.
Research initiatives currently underway focus on the link between environmental and financial performance on company valuations as well as scaling up capital formation around low-carbon technology solutions to climate change.
WRI is seeking to fill a full-time staff position of Research Analyst for its Capital Markets Research team in the Markets & Enterprise Program. The Research Analyst will play a key research and writing role in WRI's work on the intersection between finance and the environment.
The successful candidate will spend a majority of the time researching, collecting data, and supporting the senior analysts in their work. S/he must have excellent research skills, good writing ability, a solid academic background, and good analytical/quantitative skills. The candidate should be well organized, familiar with current environmental issues, and comfortable working independently within a collaborative research team.
Major Responsibilities
* Work closely with the senior analysts to produce research and analysis on relevant environmental and finance issues, including some quantitative analysis.
* Work with senior analysts in assessing various regulatory and policy scenarios and their impact on investment opportunities.
* Support the Director of the team in project management and other tasks as may arise.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business or related discipline, with one or two years of work experience, preferably in the private sector.
* Good research skills and ability to collate information in an organized and clear manner.
* Excellent computer/internet skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
* Demonstrated understanding of environment and energy issues.
* Results focused, with a strong team orientation, and the ability to work well under pressure toward a tight deadline.
