Campaign Organizer

Duties:

We seek a motivated organizer with excellent communication skills to fill an available position
focused on a Tumacacori Highlands Wilderness campaign. The organizer will be responsible for coordinating
the majority of outreach activities within Santa Cruz and Pima Counties of southern Arizona.

Tasks will
include:

• Meeting with and/or giving presentations to a diverse set of civic organizations, landowners, and other
  individuals
• Meeting with elected officials in the region to gain support
• Assisting in the formulation and management of the campaign website
• Building a groundswell of public support for Wilderness designation in the Tumacacori Highlands
• Organizing public and private outreach events around the campaign

Qualifications:

The organizer will have excellent communication skills and be able to reach a diverse set of
audiences. Other suggested qualifications include:

• Previous grassroots organizing experience
• General knowledge of wilderness designation, management, and issues
• Excellent writing skills
• Some web-based knowledge such as html formatting
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to travel 1-3 hours frequently throughout the week

Terms:

Start Date: November 2003

Hours: 40/week

Compensation: Salary 25,000-30,000
