Description
Background:
The NFPA is a national alliance of citizens and organizations dedicated to protecting public
lands from commercial exploitation, and in particular, protecting federal public lands from commercial
logging. Project Overview NFPA's overall goal is to protect our forest heritage by ending the commercial
logging on federal public lands nationwide by developing a comprehensive strategy for the preservation of
biological diversity, restoration of watersheds, and healthy economies. We can have the greatest impact on
changing public lands policy by prioritizing the coordination of grassroots efforts within targeted locations.
NFPA's Political Organizing program works with state delegates and other grassroots leaders to implement a
multi-faceted campaign in order to amplify support for ECL amongst politicians, scientists, businesses,
non-traditional allies, media, religious groups and conservationists.
Duties:
The Campaign Coordinator Assistant will
provide support to this program with the following projects. Responsibilities The intern will be work with
NFPA's Campaign Coordinator, Jake Kreilick, with the following projects:
- Political Research - Locate
key constituencies within targeted political districts; - Event Coordinator - Set up speaking presentations in
targeted locations; - Communication - Assist in the production and mailing of campaign materials, respond
to info. requests, etc.
Qualifications:
Candidates will exhibit a strong interest in forest protection and political organizing. The
intern will be self-motivated, reliable and possess good communication and writing skills. Interns are
expected to complete the hours required and to alert the supervisor about changes to the work schedule.

Terms:
Duration: Fall/Winter
Hours: 6-12 hours/week
Jake Kreilick, NFPA's Campaign Coordinator, will supervise the
internship. Jake will support the intern in successful completion of the project and supply the intern with the
necessary materials and information required. The intern will develop an on-going work plan that includes
goals and timelines. The intern will be based in our Missoula office located 314 North First in a newly
remodeled historic building. A desk and computer will be provided. Although this is not a paid internship,
credit is available at most Universities. Talk to your advisor about how to receive independent study credit or
internship credit.
