The Campaign Manager is responsible for implementing Bark's Mt. Hood Travel Plan Campaign through grassroots organizing and engagement of coalition partners and communities surrounding Mt. Hood. 

Responsibilities:

Coalition Maintenance

Grow a broad coalition of groups, businesses, and individuals to achieve goal of securing a Mt. Hood travel plan that prioritizes recreation, clean water, and wildlife habitat above logging and roadbuilding.

  • Recruit new coalition partners to participate in regular meetings and/or to accomplish specific campaign needs.   
  • Schedule and facilitate regular meetings of coalition partners.   
  • Facilitate creation of bylaws for coalition   
  • Delegate tasks to coalition partners   
  • Facilitate volunteer Treadlightly Committees including similar tasks above, but with an emphasis on cultivating volunteer committee leadership.   
  • Ensure that Treadlightly Committees and larger coalition are working together strategically.   
  • Represent Bark in national coalitions working on Planning issues (e.g. Natural Trails and Waters Coalition)

Outreach and Organizing 

  • Engage members and non-members in Travel Plan Campaign through e-mail alerts, web-alerts (including Bark-Out.org, blogs, MySpace, etc.) presentations, tabling, special events, fundraising communications, and the media.   
  • Coordinate outings to Mt. Hood National Forest including six annual Bark-Abouts.   
  • Develop and produce Travel Plan materials such as fact sheets, slide shows, movies, etc.   
  • Work with Program Director to recruit, train and manage volunteers to fulfill program needs

Qualifications 

  • Experience in grassroots organizing, volunteer-based campaigns, and coalition building.   
  • Strong administrative skills.   
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated effective public speaking ability.   
  • Knowledge of national forest issues and/or Mt. Hood issues, a plus.

Position includes serving as an active member of Bark's staff including participation in staff meetings, committee meetings and optional attendance at board meetings. 

Compensation: 

Annual salary of $24,000-$27,000, based on experience. 

Benefits:

Three weeks of paid vacation, $100/month wellness bonus, saving Mt. Hood National Forest.
