Position Overview:

You will be part of the Project Engineering team responsible for designing and optimizing groundmounted utility scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants capable of being installed, operated, and maintained at breakthrough cost levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare moderately difficult to difficult engineering and construction drawings for a complete PV project, utilizing manual and computer assisted (AutoCAD drafting/design techniques (both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional).
  • Work with minimal information and very rough sketches from Project Engineering and other team members.
  • Assist the Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical/Structural discipline leads with CAD related design tasks which regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concepts and mathematical formulas.
  • Develop and detail minor design elements which have not been clearly defined in the layouts or sketches provided.
  • Create various section cuts from the plan views.
  • Perform routine QA/QC checking and/or verification tasks, including review of existing Belectric CAD standards, design details, and other documents.
  • Perform related Project Engineering fundamental support tasks such as: plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, and other duties as assigned.
  • Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc., and interface with engineers as required.
  • Work to further establish, refine, and uphold the desired CAD quality standards for documentation, design, and engineering of Belectric's projects.
  • Preparation of permit submittal packages and bills of material.
  • Contribute to continued learning both personally and at the team level regarding overall system optimization and ongoing cost reduction efforts.
  • Supporting field assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed college coursework in an engineering or other math/science related field from an accredited university.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience dedicated to AutoCAD design.
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD version 2011 and/or Civil 3D software a plus.
  • Prior experience working within a civil, mechanical, or electrical design firm a plus.
  • Must have strong grasp of fundamental drafting skills and drawing presentation standards.
  • Must demonstrate strong engineering, design, and communication skills, and an ability to work in a dynamic team environment to think outside the box and solve traditional problems in new ways.
  • Must be self motivated, extremely thorough, have excellent organizational skills and professional integrity.
  • Must be able to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to pick up concepts quickly and apply them in new situations.
  • Must communicate effectively in both written and verbal mediums, to internal and external customers.
  • Must be comfortable working in a highly collaborative, non hierarchal environment that requires ownership of results.
