Position Overview:
We're expanding our team, and looking for a young, self-motivated and passionate individual with a strong grasp on the retail buying workflow. We're a small but driven team, in a new startup company in the eco-conscious industry. We set ourselves apart by having a keen eye towards aesthetic and quality. This is an opportunity to come in on the ground floor of an early stage startup with great potential for growth. We invite creative thinkers and involve everyone in all aspects of the business, as we believe it all works best when there is an open communication between departments. This position is full-time on contract, with possibility to become full-time.
Responsibilities:
- Identify brands and product that represent our customer's demand
- Represent and share the details and successes of our company with potential partners.
- Negotiate, build and source compelling product assortments at discounted prices.
- Drive sales through the selection of product, pricing, promotion for greatest return on investment.
- Buying responsibility and financial accountability for respective buying category
- Negotiate buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery/ payment terms)
- Manage the 3 day event operations with an Assistant Buyer
- Build strong relationships with vendors
Qualifications:
- 3+ years' buying experience
- Strong understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to manage profitability
- Knowledge of Open-to Buy process
- Experience in internet merchandising a plus
- Discount/ liquidation retail experience a plus
- Experience in sustainable industry is a definite plus!
