SUMMARY:

The Climate Trust, a Portland, Oregon based environmental non-profit, is seeking a full-time Business Development Manager. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of practical experience in a similar job setting. The Business Development Manager will also have an interest in climate change and other environmental issues. Under supervision of the Deputy Director, the Business Development Manger will support the organization's overall development activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support organization's overall marketing and communications programs, plans and initiatives.
2. Facilitate client development through marketing of partnership and services programs.
3. Develop and administer marketing tracking and fulfillment system, which includes client and prospect information, mailing lists, access to client information, etc.
4. Organize and implement client relations including: a. client satisfaction surveys b. client development activities c. participate in planning and presentation sessions
5. Support the design and implementation of annual marketing plan for the organization. 6. Support and facilitate development and implementation of specific area marketing plans.
7. Support planning and administration of the firm's marketing budget; support development of specific area marketing budgets.
8. Overseeing external vendors and consultants related to specific marketing goals
9. Assist in organization's "message" development to support broader identification in the general market.
10. Assist in organizational communications activities through including:
a. External communications such as annual reports, newsletters, etc.
b. Public relations efforts involving other organization, the media, etc.
11. Compile and update background information on targeted clients and/or sectors.
12. Support development of new products alone or in partnerships.
13. Maintain information flow and quality, and respond to information requests in a timely manner.
14. Prepare supporting material for presentations.
15. Co-ordinate all aspects related to marketing business trips of staff
16. Assist with and support organization's involvement in various partnerships and networks including coordinating business development and marketing activities via these relationships.
17. Assist in reporting to the Board of Directors in quarterly meetings.
18. Support firm's electronic marketing efforts including ongoing improvement of web site design and content.

QUALIFICATIONS:MBA or MA preferred.

Experience:At least three years in management / communications / outreach and/or organizational development within an environmental and/or energy-related private or non-profit organization; very strong communication and presentation skills; specific marketing management and planning experience.

Required Skills:The candidate must be a self-starter with an ability to work flexibly and with minimal supervision. The candidate must be highly organized, and able to interact comfortably with senior decision makers in private companies, state and federal regulatory agencies, and media organizations. The candidate must have professional presentation and interpersonal skills for interaction with other organizations and individuals. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).

COMPENSATION:Commensurate with experience.
