Position Overview:
The Business Development Analyst is a key contributor to project sales and is responsible for supporting the project sales team by analyzing and presenting the value of solar solutions and payment scenarios in proposals and customer meetings.
The position will be knowledgeable in structured finance and PPAs and have strong relationships iwth structured finance providers. Analysis will include pro-formas for customers, partners and SESG. The position may also develop and/or specify financial products for SESG. The position may also be called on to support SESG's M&A& Partnership activities.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the financial viability and value proposition of project opportunties as part of SESG's overall opportunity screening process from both SESG's and the customer's perspective; expand opportunity assessment to support prioritization of market segments (geographic and/or customer type).
- Develop project pro-formas for specific projects from the perspective of SESG and the prospect; pro-formas may include various scenarios for project finance, inlcuding PPA type structures; assist with development of pricing strategy and selection/recommendation of structured finance frameworks.
- Determines the financial implications of existing and emerging PV rebate and incentive structures.
- Provides direct "drop in" content for proposals and customer meetings, including delivery of presentations to prospects.
- Recommend to SESG and to the prospect a specific structured finance solution based on stakeholder needs and lowest leveled cost.
- Assist with financial evaluation of project risks and strategies for risk mitigation.
- Assist with financial evaluation of various business plans and scenarios, including support of M&A/partnership activities, including development of spreadsheets and detailed indicators based on sales and price forecasts.
- Create analysis tools and work with outside resources to create the tools needed for analysis and presentation of results, in addition to using existing tools.
- Research financial institutions and develop and build relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree - preferably in accounting, finance or economics; MBA degree a plus.
- 3-5 years experience as an energy or financial analyst.
- Ability to develop and clearly communicate financial evaluations of solar projects.
- Some banking/leasing experience preferred.
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal comunication skills
- Microsoft Office with Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills required
- Experience working in the renewable energy industry in project finance, especially the solar industry preferred
