Description
The Alliance for the Great Lakes is the oldest Great Lakes citizens' advocacy organization (est. 1970) whose mission is to: conserve and restore the world's largest freshwater resource using policy, education and local efforts, ensuring a healthy Great Lakes and clean water for generations of people and wildlife.
Our Chicago office has an immediate opening for a bright and enthusiastic intern with the potential to scale into a part-time continuing position at 15-20 hours per week. Initial time/hours is flexible, and will be structured around need and the candidate's schedule.
Responsibilities:
This position will assist with database entry, updates & mail merges, as well as coordinating and putting together mailings, running queries in statistical software, and replying to constituents, with progressively more responsibilities related to messaging and interaction with constituents. This position will also assist in other areas of the organization as needed, such as researching and establishing relationships for the Alliance's Sustainable Business Program (which may include areas of finance, mgmt., marketing & co-branding, investing, green certification, and/or consulting, as these areas relate to water conservation and quality in the Great Lakes).
The selected candidate will have the following minimum qualities:
- Preferable to have an undergraduate degree or currently enrolled (preferably related to environment and business, but not a requirement)
- Capable to work with others in an efficient, professional and positive manner
- Good sense of humor
- Takes direction well and multi-tasker
- Especially familiar with Microsoft Access, Excel and Word
|- Flexible schedule/able to work in Loop area of Downtown Chicago
- Passion for the Great Lakes
