Position Overview 

The Business Analyst gathers requirements, performs business intelligence, configuration management and quality assurance. 

Business Analysis: 

  • Work with business to review, analyze and create detailed documentation of business processes, systems and requirements.
  • Work with the business to identify and maximize opportunities to improve services through process improvement and leveraging technology.
  • Assist with business case development and project charter definition.
  • Elicit, organize and manage requirements.
  • Business process modeling and work flows.
  • Able to create use cases, domain models, solution diagrams, data schema and test plans.
  • Wireframe prototyping using Balsamiq.
  • Understand deliverables needed for traditional and Agile system development methodologies.
  • Ability to perform cost benefits (ROI) analysis.
  • Translate requirements into functional and technical specifications for development.
  • Apply standards for process, data and system documentation.
  • Analyze issues and provide clear recommendations.


Business Intelligence:
 

  • Maintain and update business intelligence tools, scorecards, dashboards, systems, databases and methods.
  • Assist with centralizing data for analytical purposes.
  • Use, mentor and train team members on business intelligence tools, access methods, data model and centralized database.
  • Provide financial and operational information necessary to manage and improve business.
  • Mine and analyze data, deliver forecasts, financial results, assess outcomes, and identify process improvements.Present results in understandable, useful, and actionable formats.
  • Develop and prepare responses for client inquiries. Including energy savings, budget/financial results, analysis of data accuracy, progress toward goals, budget burn rates, and other trends as requested.
  • Identify program data collection requirements to support evaluation and high risk programs/measures, developing program participation forecasts, analyze trends and market share, and evaluate the success of initiatives.Ensure compliance with contracts, policies and procedures, troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.
  • Present data, research, and analysis results to diverse audiences including program staff and other internal/external stakeholders as requested.
  • Assist with ETL, data extraction, integration and migration scripts as needed.
  • Assist with applications design to ensure data integrity is maintained.
  • These responsibilities are not all inclusive and other duties may be as needed. 

Configuration Management (CM): 

  • Manage & improve CM tools and environments.
  • Support multiple CM products used by the business.
  • Perform release management (e.g. package, version, migrate, build, test and installations).
  • Coordinate and perform testing with business prior to new CM implementations. 

Quality Assurance and Testing: 

  • Develop and lead quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Write test cases for functional, non-functional and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop automated testing capabilities.
  • Lead / coordinate business testing (e.g. plan development, assignment, etc.).
  • Report on project test results. 
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.


Qualifications, Essential Skills & Experience
 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology or related field. 

2-5 years of Business Analyst experience including: 

  • Requirements Management
  • Business Intelligence
  • Scorecard Reporting
  • Configuration Management
  • Quality Assurance 

CBAP: 

  • Certified Business Analyst Professional or equivalent desired. 

Proficiency in: 

  • Computer systems
  • Microsoft Suite
  • Internet / cloud computing

Beneficial Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of business analysis tools, approaches and best practices.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. Able to manage multiple assignments with varying priorities at one time.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong listening skills, including the ability to interpret business requests.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
