The mission of the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) is to promote energy efficiency, green building and environmental protection in the United States and abroad.  The organization's activities include technical and market research, educational outreach, and the crafting of building codes and other policy and program initiatives. IMT works to strengthen linkages among property value, green building and energy performance.

Position Overview:

IMT is seeking a finance expert to manage our Building Energy Efficiency Finance Policy Program. The program focuses on financing policy and mechanisms to promote energy efficiency for both residential and commercial buildings.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage IMT's Building Energy Efficiency Finance Policy program, including strategic planning, analysis, policy development, public presentations, and generation of reports for collaborators and funders
  • Develop analytical models and statistical analyses to test and illustrate the potential impact of policy recommendations and financing mechanisms
  • Areas of focus will include mortgage and commercial underwriting and appraisal, commercial leasing, green leases, commercial insurance, and the economic incentives that guide decision-making by lenders, real estate agents, appraisers, operators, and investors
  • Coordinate outreach with partner organizations, policymakers, and industry professionals
  • Write papers, analyses, presentations, and policy recommendations

Qualifications: 

Preferred education, experience and skills:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, business, economics, mathematics, accounting, law, policy, or fields relevant to buildings or real estate
  • Familiarity with the terms and principles of finance, mortgage and commercial underwriting and appraisal, commercial leasing, green leases, commercial insurance and corporate accounting
  • Familiarity with the terms and principles of building energy use and conservation
  • Experience with public policy analysis, coalition building, and program management
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of policymakers and industry professionals
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience.
