Many of our engineering and surveying professionals have a minimum of 25 years of experience in all phases of oil, petrochemical and natural gas pipeline projects and we can also draw upon the specialized expertise of Holland Engineering's other disciplines for structural and civil engineering support. We can take the entire project from conceptual design through final as-built surveying and understand how critical deadlines are, especially in an industry in which service interruptions translate into lost revenue.
Position Overview
Holland Engineering is immediately seeking a full time Biologist for our Environmental Services Group to work in our Southfield office location.
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include wetland delineations, report writing, environmental assessments and environmental impact studies, NEPA evaluations, storm water studies, soil and water sampling, providing environmental inspection for a variety of projects, and other ecological project assignments as needed.
- Candidate will also assist in the preparation of environmental reports, permits, and proposals in addition to being involved in a variety of ecological assignments for gas pipelines, energy related projects, highways, airports, and other redevelopment projects.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience is required, along with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
- Candidate who has obtained a Master's Degree or the equilavent in work experience, will be given preference.
- Candidate must have professional experience in wetland delineation, environmental resource studies and reporting, threatened and endangered species evaluations, permitting, stormwater, mitigation/enhancement/restoration and/or preservation.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Adobe and GPS software is required.
- Excellent written skills are also required, in addition to good oral communication and research abilities.
- Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel (in and out of state).
- Ideal candidate will have completed the Army Corp wetland certification and have a working knowledge of Michigan, USACE, USFWS and USEPA regulations; 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training; industrial and construction storm water certification; and knowledge of AutoCAD, GPS, and GIS programs.
