Description
Bluegrass Biodiesel LLC is a biodiesel producer with a plant located in Falmouth Kentucky. The plant takes in various virgin and recycled oils and greases and produces ASTM grade B100 biodiesel and has a nominal plant capacity of 9 MM gallons/ year.
Position Overview:
Purpose: To provide leadership and management to all departments and projects within the Falmouth, Kentucky plant including operations, maintenance, quality control, purchasing and sales.
Reporting: The Plant Manager receives direction from the Managing Partner, Bluegrass BioDiesel LLC. The Plant Manager directs, hires, fires and disciplines all plant employees in compliance to the Employee Manual utilizing the organizational structure.
Responsibilities:
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and management may modify this job description as needed.
- Ensure plant is run in a safe manner and in compliance with all regulations.
- Direct production and maintenance activities to achieve maximum efficiency of production, production rates and quality of products while minimizing plant downtime.
- Responsible for plant budgets, staffing, process changes, sales and production forecasts and maintenance planning.
- Monitor biodiesel markets for potential sales opportunities; develop new sales opportunities of biodiesel; develop and secure sources of feedstocks (animal fat & vegetable oils) and biodiesel thru off fuel take agreements, toll processing arrangements, spot purchases, etc.
- Responsible for identifying sales opportunities, making sales proposals, concluding supply agreements, developing customer relationships for biodiesel; developing sales of biodiesel into on-road applications (fuel blenders), off-road applications such as marine fuel, heating fuel, power generation fuel, etc.
- Participate in meetings with colleagues, suppliers, customers on a regular basis on an as and when necessary basis. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, suppliers, management and employees.
- Oversee record keeping and filing systems (paper files, Outlook Folders, electronic files) as required by regulatory agencies and the company.
- Promote teamwork and achievement of company goals by coordinating and participating in meetings between all departments and with general management in Midland, Michigan to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information.
- Ensure plant employees are trained to effectively perform their jobs.
- Lead plant personnel to effectively accomplish daily operations and long-term goals of the company.
