Our goal at SDK is to support and enjoy significant accomplishments in the market transformation of commercial and institutional building design and construction towards more mainstream sustainable and green building practices.
We work towards this goal everyday by supporting our clients who have significant commercial and/or institutional building portfolios, who will build multiple projects over the course of decades to come, by taking on full sustainable design and green building outcome responsibility for individual projects, while institutionalizing sustainable design/construction team, and owner management, practices and values along the way.
Position Overview:
SDK is in search of a team-oriented individual who can work well with minimal supervision in a small office environment. Strong professional skills and a positive, flexible, attitude are essential.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities consist of the following for the 10 to 15 LEED new construction and existing building to be supported:
- Support the SDK Project Managers and Senior Engineering staff for technical energy related issues on new and existing building projects.
- Energy topic focused client interface and correspondence
- Perform field and office based building system and data collection to support ASHRAE Level I and Level II Energy Audits
- Perform EPA EnergyStar Portfolio Manger energy analysis for SDK client existing buildings
- Identify energy efficiency opportunities in existing buildings.
- Perform energy and cost savings opportunity analysis associated with ASHRAE energy audits.
- Energy audit report writing including energy use analysis details and summaries, HVAC, controls, lighting, and lighting control system narratives
- Compile energy audit information and analysis into SDK template energy audit reports for delivery to clients.
- Perform HVAC commissioning site inspections for new construction projects
- Perform HVAC, controls, and lighting system submittals for new construction projects being commissioned by SDK.
- Write commissioning site visit and submittal review summaries
Qualifications:
Skills, Experience, and Educational Requirements:
- A BS degree with a technical based curriculum
- 2 to 5 years relevant work experience
- Energy auditing experience
- Energy use analysis and efficiency opportunity analysis experience
- Prior energy audit report writing experience
- Functional knowledge of HVAC, control, lighting, and lighting control system types
- Conversant in indoor air quality and water use topics and issues in commercial/residential buildings.
- Working knowledge/experience in building design and/or construction process
- Working knowledge/experience in facilities management process
- Novice to intermediate level experience or knowledge of the LEED Green Building Rating Systems
- Background in detailed technical project work in commercial and institutional buildings
- A strong ability to absorb technical details and established processes to contribute to a technical team and the overall program
- Ability to read, understand, and navigate building plans and specifications
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience managing multiple, complex tasks
- Excellent writing and verbal communication, organization and time management skills
- Excellent time management, planning, analytic and organization skills
- Strong people skills for training and mentoring clients and support staff
- Multi-tasking and deadline management skills to effectively manage large amounts of information
