Position Overview:

IHS EER's wind energy practice is well established and is growing rapidly. To meet the strategy and information needs of our growing client base we are looking for an experienced, driven professional to join our successful, entrepreneurial team. The Associate Director will play a key role in building out EER's consulting offer in the wind energy industry while contributing to its US wind subscription services.

Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

  • Act as pursuit lead for incoming consulting requests related to ongoing research under the guidance of the senior research director, including structuring proposals and engaging in client discussion
  • Manage consulting project execution, including structuring and producing deliverables with the guidance and support of the senior research director, and collaborating with colleagues in a matrixed organization
  • Conduct primary research of the US wind industry including qualitative and quantitative market intelligence collection
  • Provide flexible support to the US wind research team by initiating, writing and producing regular executive briefings, PowerPoint presentations
  • Contribute to market outlooks and in-depth annual market studies on the US wind industry
  • Demonstrate to clients and team members a knowledge and expertise in the analysis of wind energy, wind turbine technology, and overall electricity markets
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of understanding of the regulatory, technology and competitive landscape of the wind industry and its supply chain
  • Interact with clients on a continuous basis to provide market research, competitive analysis, and strategy support
  • Leverage intellectual capital created through consulting to enrich subscription services

Specific Job Duties:

  • Applied Research Consulting lead tracking, client follow-up
  • Drafting of presentations, proposals, market analysis
  • Primary and secondary research via phone/meetings with key players in the wind industry
  • Organization and dissemination of intellectual capital produced through consulting

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of at least 3-5 years experience in an analytical role in the energy industry. At least 3 years experience specifically in the US wind power industry is preferred.

The position requires solid analytical and quantitative skills, strong verbal and written communication skills. As part of the North America wind energy advisory group, the candidate must be able to work in a team environment, and to lead or contribute to collaborative projects.

  • Data collection and analysis with Microsoft package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Client management skills, presentation skills, writing skills for research deliverables
