Position Overview: 

Your primary focus in this role is analysis and task management across all areas related to building systems performance including active system conceptualization, guide modeling and validation studies to optimize the development and delivery of high performance green building systems to our clients through innovation, technical rigor and positive change management.

The projects may be new construction and/or significant renovation of existing buildings. The successful candidate shall demonstrate strong building systems and green building expertise gained through directly relevant project experience and education, and the ability to work with diverse groups and interests. 20% travel is expected.

Responsibilities: 

As Associate Consultant you will:

  • Channel your passion for sustainability and technical excellence to optimize building mechanical and electrical system design and controls
  • Use your mechanical engineering and/or building facilities engineering experience to maximize an existing building's ability to conserve energy, reduce carbon footprint and improve human health and satisfaction.
  • Apply your knowledge of LEED to prepare and submit LEED documentation to the USGBC
  • Communicate ideas through structured message development and story lines, in multiple media
  • Draw on your multi-tasking ability to support multiple project teams and deliverables on time and on budget

Qualifications:

Technical:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, property management or allied field
  • LEED Accredited Professional, LEED EBO&M a plus
  • Analysis of building energy performance, MEP system integration, Energy Star, daylighting simulations, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of LEED sufficient to prepare and submit project documentation to GBCI
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Adobe CS3 or above a plus)

Industry:

  • Whole building design, including technical evaluation as demonstrated by either:
  • 2 to 3 years professional experience with demonstrated progression in building system design or operations with an emphasis on green building, or
  • An advanced degree in engineering with a focus on green building system design or operations with practical experience gained through internships, fellowships or similar on-the-job training
  • 1 to 2 years of mechanical engineering, property management or construction management experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of active field experience with ability to communicate with multiple stakeholder groups including tradesmen, architects, engineers, property owners and managers and construction representatives.
  • Strong controls and HVAC background is highly desirable.

Business:

  • 2+ years managing task to deadlines and budget
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) - ability to draft technical reports, white papers, and other business communications with minimal supervision
  • An idea person with strong research skills to support your hypothesis Attention to detail is critical
  • A sense of humor and a knack for innovation and problem solving
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented working style
