Position Overview: 

The primary focus of this position is the development of technical and feasibility analysis support to green building consulting project teams. The successful candidate shall demonstrate the ability to work under guided supervision and work well with diverse groups and interests. Project work entails execution of directed research, analytical activities and preparation of technical reports and presentations.  This position offers growth potential.

This is an entry level position with direct line of reporting to a technology innovation manager within the Building Sciences team.  

Responsibilities:

  • Energy modeling and analysis using DOE II compliant software
  • Perform technical analysis in support of project teams including: calculations that support proof of concept, energy and daylighting simulations, water balance modeling, materials recommendations and drawing and specification review
  • Author technical reports, create presentations and other client-facing memoranda on sustainability topics including concept exploration and development, definition of the basis of design, sequences of operation and setting design criteria
  • Provide building design and construction assistance through commissioning reviews, schematic modeling to inform design decisions, building simulation, and validation of energy value proposition of building materials and products
  • Prepare and submit LEED documentation to the U.S. Green Building Council

Qualfications:

Technical:

  • A degree in engineering, architecture or allied field
  • 2+ years experience with energy modeling software, including Equest, EnergyPro, Energy+, or other priority software systems, and software manipulation to produce solutions within problem criteria
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability concepts and strategies as demonstrated through actual project or program work
  • Strong understanding of building code and its relation to energy modeling
  • LEED specific energy modeling and ASHRAE's BEMP certification a plus
  • LEED Accredited Professional or LEED project experience preferred

Industry:

  • Experience in whole building design, including technical evaluation as demonstrated by either:
    • 2+ years professional experience with demonstrated progression in building design with an emphasis on green building, or
    • An advanced degree in engineering, architecture or building science with a focus on green building, energy or building science, and with practical experience gained through internships, fellowships, or similar on-the-job training
  • Experience developing and implementing sustainability concepts and strategies as demonstrated through actual project or program work

Business:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to draft technical reports, white papers, and other business communications with minimal supervision
  • Expert user of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLookups, and other advanced functionality
  • A sense of humor and a knack for innovation and problem solving
