The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, a bureau of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is recruiting for an Aquarium Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
This individual is responsible for coordinating all aspects of a 20 exhibit, 100,000 gallon aquarium program including. Duties include:
- recruiting, supervising and evaluating aquarium staff;
- coordinating program planning and development;
- managing budget and expenditures;
- overseeing specimen acquisition and husbandry;
- supervising operation of mechanical & environmental systems;
- supervising development and maintenance of display themes, presentation and aesthetics;
- preparing, editing and producing interpretive signage, brochures, press releases, and articles;
- coordinating and participating in verbal and interactive educational activities.
Qualifications:
Incumbent should possess:
- strong management, leadership and supervisory skills;
- effective interpersonal and communication skills;
- ability to effectively plan, organize and implement projects;
- knowledge of collection, transport and care of aquatic animals;
- ability to effectively assess and solve problems.
Minimum educational and experience requirements:
A master's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in wildlife/fisheries ecology/biology or in wildlife/fisheries conservation/management or a field of study defined by the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and 4 years experience directly related to the duties described above.
Compensation: Annual salary is $45,583.07 and benefits include: a vehicle furnished as needed; insurance plan; cafeteria plan; retirement plan; deferred compensation plan.
