Description
Adventurous Biologists to observe and sample catches on commercial fishing vessels off the coast of Alaska. Work offered year-around. Training will be provided. The fishery data is used by government agencies such as National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) to manage commercial fisheries.
Duties
While onboard fishing vessels, biologists identify and collect representative samples of the catch, sorting, recording and measuring different species such as the sex, length, and quantity of the species caught.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in fisheries science or other biological science
- College level statistics course
- Ability to pass a physical exam
- U.S. Citizenship
Compensation: $132 per day (for the first 90 days), training, transportation, room and board are provided.
