Description
Background:
Environment Colorado is statewide environmental advocacy group that
focuses on protecting Colorado's air, water and open space. We focus
on renewable energy, land use and transportation and cleaning up
Colorado's air and protecting our national forests. We research
problems, write reports, work with the media, build coalitions, lobby
decisionmakers, do grassroots organizing, and litigate. Environment
Colorado is hiring an Administrator to help oversee the day to day
functioning of the statewide organization.
Duties:
The Administrator works closely with the Executive Director and the
Program Advocates in Environment Colorado's state office.
Responsibilities range from clerical duties to strategic planning. The
Administrator manages staff, develops and maintains systems,
coordinates intra-organizational activities, and provides support to
other Environment Colorado staff. Specific responsibilities include:
- Executive Director support: represent the Executive Director to staff,
allies, and the public and coordinate Executive Director projects and
schedule. - Legislative and campaign back up: assist program advocates with
legislative and campaign activities and facilitate campaign
decision-making process and strategy sessions. - Communications: assist in coordination of internal and external
communications such as campaign materials, newsletters, memos,
correspondence, updates, and member inquiries; assist with media
work; help maintain website. - Staff Management: coordinate and participate in organizational
meetings; coordinate full-time staff and summer intern recruitment;
organize staff retreats and dinners. - Administrative work: complete financial and budgetary duties,
facilitating the systems for and tracking of grantseeking work;
coordinate and perform support for staff; maintain organizational files. - Computers: manage various databases; assist staff with word
processing, mail merging, and basic computer support.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants have a strong commitment to public interest
issues, vision, an attention to detail, and an enthusiastic attitude.
Candidates should be well organized and self-directed, with strong
word processing skills and a familiarity with IBM computers. Ability to
deal with multiple projects and responsibilities is essential. Strong
verbal and written communication skills are recommended.
