Forest gardening is for anyone who wants to get back in the flow of ecology on their piece of land, no matter how large or small. Have you ever wished there was a way for people to benefit the environment by living their lives, instead of just damaging it to a greater or lesser degree? 

We'll teach you how! This is a paid position!

About Acorn Food

Acorns are the most overlooked food in America. Be a part of the effort to return acorn food to the American diet, and the shift to forest-based agriculture.  

• Yield. Acorn production is comparable to the yield per acre of wheat.
• Nutrition. Acorn flour contains the carbohydrate, protein, oil, and minerals of a perfect staple food.
• Ecology. Oaks support ecosystem services such as building soil, cleaning water and nurturing biodiversity.
• Cuisine. Acorn flour is a mild, hearty, multipurpose ingredient, useful in breads, cookies, crusts, stews, hot cereal...  

Work Schedule: 

• Early October through December 2014
• 2 to 4 days per week
• 6 to 8 hours per day
• Weather dependent 

Qualifications 

• Reliable, hard-working person who is comfortable working outside in all weather.
• Transportation to Bowie. 

Compensation: $7.25 per hour
