Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all finance and accounting operations. Specific duties include maintenance of the general ledger and all related accounting activities.
The candidate will have a working knowledge of accounting principles, a financial or accounting undergraduate degree and two years accounting work experience.
The Accounts manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective fiscal and business management systems. Duties include fiscal processing; general ledger accounting, financial statement design and preparation; overseeing activities of book-keeper, store and dispensary supervisors.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting System and Records: Establish and maintain a computerized accounting system in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) including a complete general ledger and all appropriate subsidiary ledgers and journals using Navision accounting software.
- Financial Reporting: Develop and prepare monthly internal financial statements which meet the needs of the proprietor and board. Assist with preparation of annual tax forms.
- Fiscal Processing: Oversee processing of all receipts and disbursements, journal entries and other fiscal records. Reconciliation of bank statements and balance sheet accounts. Sales tax reporting. Manage cash flow.
- Payroll: Supervise all payroll functions to assure compliance with regulatory and deposit requirements, accuracy, timelines and confidentiality.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks, obtain insurance coverage quotes.Skill RequirementsExperience/skills
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in accounting with 3 years progressive work experience including supervisory skills IN A retail accounts environment (significant work experience may substitute for an accounting degree)
- Ability to use initiative and identify opportunities to improve systems and processes
- Self-starter able to work as part of a team or independently as required
- Exposure to analytical projects and traditional accounting activities such as financial reporting and auditing
- Strong computer skills, including accounting software, Excel and Word
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to collaborate with others and communicate effectively
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times, work gracefully under pressure and maintain a strong work ethic.
