We are a social change communications agency with more than 30 years of experience working on some of the country's most important social change and social justice movements.

Fenton's past and present clients include The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Save the Children, the Transgender Law Center and The California Endowment. We also create top-tier cause marketing campaigns and CSR and sustainability programs for companies such as Cisco, Intel, Warner Bros. and Stonyfield Organics.

Fenton has 70 staff in five offices in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC and London. We come from a variety of backgrounds, including non profits, government agencies, consulting firms and the corporate world. While we work hard, we also appreciate a good Happy Hour, round of karaoke or game of trivia when we see one.

Position Overview:

We're looking for a communications savvy Account Coordinator with a passion for making social change to join Fenton's fast-paced and creative San Francisco team. The AC has at least 2 years of experience in public interest advocacy or campaigns, communications, social activism, media relations, or demonstrated equivalent experience, and agency experience.

We are especially interested in people who are passionate about the role of business in changing the world and have experience in corporate social responsbility or sustainability communications.

The AC's primary role is to coordinate administrative, media and research aspects for assigned clients.

Responsibilities:

You will: 

  • Build media lists and maintain media databases 
  • Monitor news media and social media; compile reports/summaries of coverage
  • Conduct research on media markets, issues areas and new business prospects
  • Utilize common web tools to help build-out and implement online campaigns 
  • Social media content creation and implementation on Facebook and Twitter 
  • Utilize tools like Google Analytics to develop benchmarks and then analyze and report on stats for websites, social media sites, e-mail campaigns and online advertising 
  • Online copy writing and marketing support 
  • Conduct communications audits using Google, Lexis-Nexis, Radian6 and other Internet tools
  • Organize logistics for meetings, press conferences, and events
  • Pitch reporters, producers, editors, bloggers
  • Create client and external correspondences
  • Draft press materials, fact sheets, online content and other collateral
  • Assemble and distribute press packets and other materials
  • Lay out PowerPoint presentations
  • Proofread/copyedit documents
  • Manage projects, like graphic design, web development, or printing, and working with vendors
  • Lead landscape and competitive analysis research projects; gather insights to form campaigns and communications strategies
  • Provide input on strategies and tactics for communications campaigns and online marketing or advocacy outreach
  • Assist on other activities as needed

Other Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed 35 billable hours each week 
  • Assist with client accounting codes, budgets, projections and work plans 
  • Research media coverage of client subject areas and new business prospects
  • Assist with the formatting of new business proposals
  • Research and maintaining files on publicity-related tools, products and services
  • Schedule meetings and setting up teleconferences, as needed

  • Someone who want to use their smarts, exceptional problem solving skills and outstanding attention to detail to make social change
  • Looking to hone your karaoke skills 

Additional Information:

If you were working with us, here are some of the things you would have done last week:

  • Drafted a concept for a magazine guest article for a client
  • Finalized a competitive analysis report for a major tech company's CSR program, a project on which you led the research, secured the print vendor for the print report, and picked up the printed copies from the vendor.
  • Presented the report at the client's headquarters in Palo Alto.
  • Attended and took notes at a client kickoff meeting in Oakland, for a nonprofit organization rebranding project on which you will lead the landscape research.
  • Finalized web content for a dating violence prevention toolkit site, and sent video clip recommendations to the video team for the new site, after watching an hour or so of raw interview footage.
  • Edited a video script for a client organization's 10th anniversary video.
  • Set up a weekly client meeting and internal team check ins.
  • Put together the first draft of a power point presentation about what branding is and why it's important, for a presentation to a client's executive board.
