Commissioning Field Technician

Position Overview

Strata Solar currently has a vacancy for the position Commissioning Field Technician.

Work within a team to perform required system inspections on commercial PV power plants. Assist with mechanical inspections and electrical testing. Document all inspection findings and test results. Communicate inspection findings and test results with Commissioning Lead. Document and assist with PV system trouble shooting and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the inspection of PV plants to specifications of construction documents.
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection. Documenting all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation in a neat and orderly manner for review by the Lead. Assist Lead with field test data entry as needed.
• Keep tools clean and orderly at all times. Report any missing or broken tools to Lead and inform Lead when consumable supplies are low.
• Care for and maintain all issued PPE in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
• Maintain a clean and operational vehicle. Communicate any damage, maintenance, or inspections to manager immediately upon identification.
• Arrive for work Prepared to work and dressed appropriately. Maintain a positive attentive attitude toward co-workers and construction teams at all times.
• Check email daily and respond as needed in a timely manner.
• Work independently as a member of the team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Self-supervision and independent motivation required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• 1-2 Years of verifiable electrical installation experience preferred.
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred.
• NABCEP PV installer certification preferred.
• Knowledge of National Electric Code and standard design/construction best practices.
• Knowledge of OSHA safe work place practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to read and understand electrical single-line and three-line diagrams.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight.
• Must have the ability to travel, work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends if necessary.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

• Work is to be performed in the field and occasionally in the cottage office.
• Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. Use of PPE including, but not limited to, hard hat, steel toed shoes, rubber insulated gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection is required.
• Must have ability to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand and walk short distances for 8-10 hours per day.
• Must be able to work outside in varying environmental conditions for 8-10 hours per day.
• Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
