Organic Hemp Farm Intern

~ Go Farm Hemp breeds and grows heirloom, stable, microclimate-specific and high-yielding hemp strains for farmers. ~

In 2018, our farmers and growers produced over 1,273,000 hemp plants on irrigated pivots, in greenhouses, indoors, outdoors, on drip tape and plastic; all carried out through various practices including the use of seedlings, cuttings, plugs by hand, and mechanization.

Our philosophy: Hemp is a healing plant. Hemp produces the most powerful anti-inflammatory medicine in the world. The medicine which is derived from hemp treats cancer, epilepsy, and countless other ailments of which we are only beginning to learn and understand. If there is one plant which should not be compromised and/or subject to genetic mutations, it is hemp - particularly when simple farm management and best practices will not only generate a successful natural crop, but a crop with superior yields compared to one grown with feminized seed.

Position Overview

Go Farm Hemp, LLC is currently looking for an Organic Hemp Farm Intern. 

Responsibilities

• Work in close collaboration with skilled hemp farmers to plant, maintain, and cultivate over 100 hectares of hemp plants.
• Learn and apply best practices to bolster efficient farm management.
• Research and present on topics related to the hemp plant; such as, nutritive content, medicinal properties, growing conditions and practices, and domestic/international hemp industries.
• Go Farm Hemp Interns must be able to work on the farm near Paducah, KY full-time from May - November 2019.
• Eligible current students qualify for the Go Farm Hemp Summer Internship from June - July/August 2019 (specific dates negotiable based on term start/end dates).

Qualifications

Required:

• Go Farm Hemp Interns must be capable and eager to conduct physical work on the farm; including, planting, weeding, watering, maintaining, and cultivating numerous acres of hemp plants.
• Passion to learn and apply skills related to the organic and holistic care of the hemp plant.

Desired:

• Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in agriculture, agronomy/soil science, food sciences, or closely-related fields.Significant experience with farming, gardening, and/or plant care.
• Knowledge of subsistence and industrial agricultural practices.

• Salary: $18.00 /hour
