Position Overview
Booz Allen Hamilton is currently seeking an Environmental Management Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Provide broad scope onsite technical and program management functions to the federal Safety, Health, and Environmental Management (SHEM) program.
- Serve as a technical advisor for regulatory issues of environmental compliance, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, and laboratory health and safety in accordance with federal, state, and local EPA, OSH, and DOT and IATA standards and requirements.
- Prepare and review environmental compliance reports, RCRA hazardous waste protocols and the development and delivery of training materials, standard operating procedures, and emergency response guidelines.
- Act with a team of emergency responders to participate in laboratory chemical spills requiring up to Level B PPE.
- Coordinate with clients to enable these activities.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a professional work or laboratory environment.
- Experience with EPA RCRA requirements for the management of hazardous wastes and developing and reviewing waste shipment documentation.
- Experience with other environmental programs, including fuel storage tank regulations and inspections, industrial wastewater discharge permitting, sampling, and reporting, Tier 2 reporting, and radiological or equivalent environmental program requirements.
- Ability to pass a Respiratory Fit Test and use Level B Personal Protective Equipment, as needed.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.
- BS degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology.
- Current OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
- Current RCRA Certification.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with radiological sampling.
- MS degree in a Scientific field.
- Current DOT and IATA Certification.
Clearance:
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
