Position Overview

As our Distributed Generation & Solar Design Analyst, you will provide critical, front line support to the Distributed Generation (DG) development efforts at Brookfield Renewable US. You will have primary responsibility for creating initial solar designs (using Helioscope, AutoCAD, etc.), running energy rate analysis, creating solar energy production models, and spearheading much of the analysis done in the early stages of project development—for both new development projects as well as large portfolio acquisitions.

Spearhead the analysis of large DG portfolios Brookfield is looking to acquire, interfacing with multiple parties within the larger Brookfield organization In this role you will take on a large amount of responsibility and will serve as a core member of the DG & Solar Development team at Brookfield, with an outsized ability to influence and affect the ongoing strategy of the business.

Through your work, you will be exposed to every segment of the larger Brookfield Renewable enterprise—marketing, regulatory & policy; origination & business development; capital markets & project finance; wholesale power markets & energy trading; market research & risk management; engineering & construction; procurement & accounting; asset management, asset optimization and SREC/environmental trading, and all aspects of project development.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial portfolio analysis
  • Review and analyze DG portfolios: 10 to 100+ sites
  • Conduct Helioscope reviews for early stage projects— system sizing, energy modeling
  • Help prepare presentation materials, specifically design layouts and graphs
  • Conduct energy rate and solar offset analysis: analyze utility bills, run energy rate analysis utilizing Excel and various online software tools, conduct energy load profile analysis
  • Assist with Utility Interconnection Applications and interaction with the Utility
  • Most importantly bring innovative thinking, a deep hunger to learn and grow, and a natural curiosity to do things better and more efficiently across the entire enterprise
  • Create 3D layouts and/or videos for customer presentations
  • Serve as technical expert for early stage projects
  • Run AEP (annual energy production) analysis in PVSyst for late stage opportunities, projects in construction, and fully operational systems
  • Run Battery Energy Storage (BESS) models and optimize equipment configurations
  • Run financial models and economic analysis as needed
  • Assist Engineering with AutoCAD drawings when needed
  • Run desktop performance testing analysis for project close-out

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, preferably Engineering. Master’s Degree a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of industry-specific solar and/or DG work experience.Desired Skill Sets/ Skill You Will Develop
